Storage of refractories:
·     The only and basic important concept of storage was that the refractories must be stored at water proof condition. So store the refractories in a shed or in a premise which was covered at all sides.

·       Keep the doors and windows shut to avoid humidity entering inside the premise which causes castable agglomeration.

·       Cover the castable bags with tarpaulin or by thick polythene cover.

·  Never stack the refractories at ground. So stack them atleast half feet above ground level on timber wood (use only timber wood).

·     The refractories must not come into contact with wall sides.

·     The castable bags to be stacked closely with each other to avoid air recirculation causing agglomeration of castable.

·     Agglomerated or hardened castables to be avoided for usage.

·     The storage premises must be made of concrete only and not of wood etc.,

·     The floors of the premises should be maintained dry.

· The castable purchased must be in HDPE packed bags to avoid water penetration.Never procure castables packed in paper bags.

·  Castables can be stored upto six months maximum(ensure castable/refractory storage life from its supplier).

·     Never use refractories of expired life/period.

·     Always safeguard your refractory from wind, sunlight and from rain etc.,

·    Storage methods of refractory/castables is similar to storage methods of cement.
