How to calculate brick quantity?

Calculation of number of bricks & quantity of cement & sand in mortar.

Mortar thickness = 10 mm

Ratio = 1:6 (cement:sand)

Volume considered = 1 m³

MODULAR BRICK ( 190 mm X 90 mm X 90 mm )

Volume of 1 brick with mortar :

= 200 mm x 100 mm x 100 mm

= 0.2 m x 0.1 m x 0.1 m

= 0.002 cu.m.

No. of bricks in 1 cu.m. = (1 / 0.002) = 500 nos.

Volume of 1 brick without mortar:

= 0.19 m x 0.19 m x 0.09 m

= 0.001539 cu.m.

Volume covered by 500 no. of bricks

= 500 x 0.001539 cu.m.

Volume of mortar

= 1 – 0.7695

= 0.2305 cu.m. (in wet condition)

Dry volume of mortar

= 0.2305 x 1.33 ………..(33% perecentage)

= 0.306565 cu.m.

Cement = 0.306565 x (1/7) x 1440

= 63 kg say 1.26 bags

Sand = 0.306565 x (6/7) x 35.3147

= 9.28 cu.ft.
