SUNEPOXY 358
SUNEPOXY 358 is based on select
epoxy resins specially formulated to provide a durable coating suitable for
application to both vertical and horizontal surfaces. It cures to form a smooth
hygienic film with good resistance to a wide range of mineral and organic
acids, alkalies, fats and oils. It can also be used for corrosion protection of
steel, bonding and repair mortar.
Uses
· A hygienic and chemical coating for steel tanks,
concrete walls, concrete and metal columns.
·
Joints of metals, flooring screed.
·
Anti-corrosive coating over reinforcement.
·
Bond coat for old and new concrete.
·
Repair mortar.
·
Chemical resistant linings etc.

Advantages
·
Tough abrasion resistant film
·
Excellent chemical resistance
·
Excellent adhesion to many surfaces
·
Equally effective on concrete or metal substrate
Chemical resistance
SUNEPOXY 358 has been
formulated specially to provide the highest chemical resistance. However, at
elevated temperatures or where mixtures of chemicals are involved then the
effects may be different than those found in laboratory tests. However, it can
be modified to suit specific requirements.
Instruction for use
Surface to be coated must be
structurally sound, dry and free from loose material. All surface contamination
must be removed. Grease and oil should be grit blasted or water jetted. Deeper penetration
must be removed by mechanical means. Any laitance must be removed from concrete
surface, then washed off and dried. New concrete should be allowed to cure for
at least 28 days prior to coating. Steel surfaces should be shot blasted to get
a clean surface. It is essential that SUNEPOXY 358 is applied to sound, clean
dry substrates in order to achieve maximum adhesion between the coating and
substrate.
Mixing
Half kg contents of the
hardener pack should be poured into One kg Resin container and the materials
thoroughly mixed. Mechanical mixing using a slow speed (300-500 rpm) flame
proof or air driven drill fitted with a mixing attachment is recommended.
Priming
The first coat of SUNEPOXY 358
works as the priming coat.
Coating
Apply the same by brush.
Mortar
After applying the priming coat
by brush immediately place epoxy mortar consisting of the following components
mixed thoroughly to homogeneity.
·
2 kgs Resin
·
1 kg Hardner
·
9-12 kgs Quartz Sand (Graded)
Lay this mortar in required
thickness and level with trowel.
Seal coat
After 24 hrs of placing the
mortars, apply a seal coat of SUNEPOXY 358 as explained in the priming step.
NOTE: Prepare priming coat,
Mortar and Seal coat in small lots and utilize within half an hour.
Yield
Coverage for coating is approx..
45 sqft to 50 sqft.
15 kg of above mortar yields
9.5 ltrs.
Precautions
Health & safety
Some people are sensitive to
epoxy resin systems and may develop dermatitis on skin contact. Gloves and
barrier creams should be used when handling Primers and SUNEPOXY 358. If contact
with the skin occurs, wash with soap and plenty of water. Direct contact with
eyes will cause irritation and may cause serious damage if left untreated. An eye
contamination should be washed thoroughly with plenty of water and immediately
medical treatment be sought. The use of goggles while mixing is recommended.
FIRE
SUNEPOXY 358 and xylene are
flammable. Ensure adequate ventilation when using primers and solvents and do
not use near a naked flame.
Packing
SUNEPOXY 358 is available in 20
kg, 5 kg and 1 kg packing.
Shelf life
Twelve months when stored in
original closed container.
Cleaning
Tools and equipments should be
cleaned with Xylene immediately after use.
