Due to various drawbacks in the
materials and workmanship the toilets and bathrooms, tend to leak causing
problems to the bottom occupant; hence proper action should be taken as
follows:-
In case the leakages are
nominal, then grouting by polymer-cement slurry would be advisable at the
suitable locations.
However in case heavy leakages
are observed then the entire toilet and bathroom needs to be redone.
- Remove the existing W.C. pan and tiles and plumbing lines from the toilet or bathroom.
- Clean the surface of all loose particles, dust, cement laitance etc.
- Prepare a lump free, polymer-cement grout by mixing 1 kg POLYALK EP : 3 kgs Cement : 2 kgs water.
- Infuse this grout preferably under pressure after drilling nipples on the slab.
- Prepare and apply three coats of lump free, consistent slurry of POLYALK WP and cement on the bare and cleaned R.C.C. slab in the proportion 1:1.25 (by wt.) for first coat and 1:1.5 by weight for subsequent two coats at 24 hours interval between each coats.
- Cure the first two coats with damp gunny bags after 48 hrs of the application of the above slurry.
- Apply the third coat of POLYALK WP and while it is still wet and tacky lay the mortar for brick bat coba. This has to be a wet on wet application.
- Admix anti-shrinkage compound SUNPLEX (330gms pouch) per bag of cement for the mortar mixes of brick bat coba and I.P.S.
- Finish the surface and provide back the necessary W.C. pan and tiles as per the requirement.
