• He has to organise and phase the staff duties suited to the construction programme.
  • He has to supervise the work and ensure that the programme is executed according to the plan of work.
  • He should see that the material and workmanship comply with the required specifications.
  • He has to conduct various tests and inspects the materials and manufacture it at source, if possible.
  • He has to ensure necessary instructions to the contractors.
  • He has to provide drawings to the contractors agents.
  • He should prepare variation orders and pass them to the clients.
  • He should maintain a diary containing detailed programme of the construction work.
  • He should keep the record of important events on the site.
  • He should prepare and supply regular progress report to the client.
  • He should make necessary record in the respect of additional work, cost of labour and material.
  • He should cheque the progress of work against the programme.
  • He has to measure the quantities of work executed and check day work, interim payment and final payment dues.
  • He has to ensure the safety of the workers and labour on the site.
  • He has to rearrange the design of the work suitably so as to accommodate it within the limit of powers delegated to him by the client.
  • He has to keep all the resident staff fully informed about the matters effecting their work, including copies of the required site instructions and correspondence.
  • He has to maintain certain standard of the discipline among the staff.
  • He should reasonably foresee the further difficulties and bottlenecks in the work and inform the client.
