Check List to ensure Quality of Material, Process, Finish, Strength etc.

Inspection programme about what to inspect, when to inspect, and how to inspect should be prepared in detail. A check list should also be prepared to ensure quality of material and workmanship of the item, depending upon the nature of material. It is necessary to provide sufficient facilities to inspect the workmanship giving proper importance to each item of work.

Sampling Technique

The quality of construction work on the actual site has to be controlled and maintained. For this purpose sample of construction materials are taken to examine and verify different quality aspects. The method adopted for this task is termed as ‘Sampling Technique’. The sampling technique gives the procedure, intensity and methods of sampling as per the given programmers. Samples are collected and properly tested. The results obtained in testing are compared with the standard specifications. Concreting, Masonry work, compacting of earthen layers of earthen dams are the examples where proper sampling techniques are intensively used.

Following are the construction items which require special attention in respect of quality control:

·        Concrete

·        Reinforcement/Steel

·        Form Work

·        Masonry

·        Water proofing

·        Joinery and Timber work

·        Electrical Fittings

·        Sanitary fittings

·        Water supply

·        Air conditioning services
