A small water tank, having
inside dimensions, 2m x 2m x 1m is to be constructed in brick masonry with CM
(1:4). The walls are of one brick thick. Assume brick size as 19cm x 9cm x 9cm.
Find –
Quantity of brick work,
No. of brick required,
Number of cement bags required.
By centre line method,
Total centre length of wall
= 4 x 2.2
= 8.8 m.
Quantity of one brick with
mortar
= 0.20 x 0.10 x 0.10
= 0.002 Cu.m.
Therefor,
Quantity of brick work
= 8.8 x 0.20 x 1.00
= 1.76 Cu.m.
Therefor,
No. of bricks required
= 1.76/0.002
= 880 Nos.
Cement mortar required
= 880 x (0.20 x 0.10 x 0.10 –
0.19 x 0.09 x 0.09)
= 0.406 Cu.m.
Increase 30 % for dry mortar
= 0.406 x (130/100)
= 0.527 Cu.m.
Cement required
= 0.527 x (1/5)
= 0.105 Cu.m.
Cement required in bags
= 0.105/0.0345
= 3.1 bags say 4 bags
