Find quantity of sand required
for the following items.
Cement concrete (1:4:8) 10 cu.m.
UCR masonry in C.M. (1:6) 20
cu.m.
B.B. masonry in C.M. (1:5) 40
cu.m.
12 mm thick cement plaster
(1:5) 100 sq.m.
Sand quantity
Cement concrete (1:4:8) 10 cu.m.
Quantity of sand
= [(1.52 x 10)/(1+4+8)] x 4
= 4.676 cu.m. say 4.7 m3
UCR masonry in C.M. (1:6) 20
cu.m.
Assume @ 50% of dry mortar i.e.
10 cu.m.
Therefore, sand required
= (10/1+6) x 6
= 8.57 m3
B.B. masonry in C.M. (1:5) 40
cu.m.
Assume 30% dry mortar
Therefore,
30 x 40
= 12 cu.m.
Therefor, sand required
= (12/1+5) x 5
= 10 cu.m.
12 mm thick cement plaster
(1:5) 100 sq.m.
Wet mortar required
= 100 x (12/1000)
= 1.2 cu.m.
To fill up joints etc. add 30%
i.e. 1.3 x 1.2
= 1.56 cu.m.
Therefore.
Quantity of sand required
= 1.95/1+5
= 1.625 cu.m.
