An R.C.C. 1:2:4 beam having cross-section dimension 300
x 60 and length 5000 mm. It has main steel bars 5 nos. of 20 dia. Of which two
bar are bent up at supports. Anchor bars at top 2 nos. of 10 dia. Stirrups 6 @
250 c/c. All dimension in mm. Cover is 25 mm (all round). Calculate weight of
steel required.
Length of bottom straight bar
= 5000 – 2 x 25 + 2 x 9 x 20
= 5310 mm
= 5.31 m.
Length of bent up bar
= 5.31 + 2 x 0.42 x 0.45
= 5.69 m.
Length of top anchor bar
= 5000 – 2 x 25 + 2 x 9 x 10
= 5.13 m.
No. of stirrups
= ((5000 – 2 x 25) / 250) + 1
= 20.8 say 21 nos.
Length of stirrups
= (2 x 300 + 2 x 600) – 8 x 25
+ 2 x 12 x 6
= 1664 mm
= 1.66 m.
