SUNPOLICURE

This is curing compound for concrete or mortar. Using it altogether eliminates the usual water curing process.

It is well known that the compressive strength of concrete/mortar results from the hydration of cement i.e. the chemical reaction between water and cement. The standard practice is to facilitate the hydration of cement until the concrete attains its ultimate strength, by ‘Curing’, which involves keeping the surface of the concrete wet.

Once the concrete is permitted to dry and in the absence of water these chemical reactions cease and there after the concrete does not gain any strength.

For the concrete to keep gaining strength, its moisture conditions should be kept intact and only then is the basic water : cement ratio law of Duff Abrams valid. According to Bureau of Indian Standards also the curing should be done under a relative humidity of at least 90 percent

The chemical reaction of hydration of cement generates heat.

This, coupled with high ambient temperatures and high winds that may prevail at the site, often makes it difficult to maintain the requisite water content in the concrete/mortar even by external water curing. The water evaporates from concrete surfaces unless prevented from it. Watering replenishes the surface water.

Many times the external water curing itself tends to get neglected for the following reasons:

  • Shortage or scarcity of water.

  • Shortage of salt-free water. (presence of sulphates and chlorides is particularly undesirable).

  • Shortage of labour.

  • Ignorance on the part of the  labourers and persons concerned as to the importance of the process of curing.

  • Additional cost involved in curing for the full specified period.

  • SUNPOLICURE meets the requirements of ASTMC-309-74.

Instruction for use

  • Wet the deshuttered concrete thoroughly with water, making sure that the entire surface has been wetted once to compensate for the evaporation which may have occurred until then.

  • Apply SUNPOLICURE by brush, hand-operated or powered spray-gun as soon as the concrete surface turns mat.

  • The film of SUNPOLICURE  will gradually disappear through traffic and weathering.

Coverage

It covers about 10 square metres (or 100 sq.ft.) per litre depending upon the surface over which it is applied, wind, humidity and temperature conditions.

Packing

20 ltrs.M.S. drums

Shelf life

Twelve months when stored in original containers.
