POLYALK SB

POLYALK SB is a versatile SBR (special bond repair) dispersion admixture for use in repair mortars and other cementitious mixes where it wholly or partially replaces the water content of the mix. Its use as a secondary binder in cementitious mixes improves toughness, along with flexural and tensile strengths, as well as reduces permeability so that resistance to wetting and erosion is increased enhancing durability. Further, it almost totally resists carbonation.

Uses

  • Repair Mortar for R.C.C. members Provides durable repairs to spalled concrete floors, beams, columns, slabs, foundations etc.

  • Repairing finished concrete elements.

  • For repairing surface damage without adversely affecting the element. For replacing broken edges, filling of voids and rock pockets, production of high grade, hardwearing coating etc.

  • Renovating stairs made from concrete, natural stone or artificial stone.

As POLYALK SB is suitably formulated with other ingredients, the water/cement ratio is effectively reduced, which increases ultimate compressive strength as well as reduces bleeding and segregation.

Instructions for use

Bonding/Priming

Wet down absorbent surfaces and mix a bonding slurry of 1.5 parts of cement to 1 part ‘POLYALK SB’ to a lump-free creamy consistency. Apply this slurry as a bonding coat. The renderings, screeds etc. should follow as long as the bond coat is not hard-set, i.e. wet on wet, (say within 10-15 minutes).

Coverage

30 to 40 sqft per liter of POLYALK SB

Repair Mortar

Prepare mortar consisting of the followings:

1)     1 kg POLYALK SB

2)   5 kg Fresh OPC

3)   15 kg Quartz sand (graded).

4)   Water as required

Yield

Above 21 kg mix yield 0.01 Cub. Mtr or 10 ltrs

Application

After treating the surface with a bonding slurry of cement and POLYALK SB as above and whilst it is still wet/tacky apply the repair mortar to minimum depth of 14 mm. in two coats of 7 mm. each. The coating should be well compacted and finished. Subsequently general curing precautions may be taken using moist gunny bags but not directly spraying or ponding of water.

NOTE: POLYALK SB with cement has excellent adhesive properties, so clean all the tools with water immediately after use.

Packing

20 kg, 5 kg, 1 kg

Shelf life

Twelve months when stored in original closed container.
