VERTICAL SECTION OF COLUMN
- Clean
the M.S. surface thoroughly by mechanical means like wirebrushing etc. to
remove loose rust.
- Apply
‘Rusticide’ solution by means of cottonwaste swab so as to wet the M.S.
surface thoroughly in case of heavily scaled surface. Allow to dry for 24
hours. Avoid contact with water. Brush off any loose particle by means of
a soft paint brush.
- Prepare
a slurry of ‘Polyalk Fixoprime’ and cement in 1:1 proportion and mix to a
homogeneous consistency free from lumps. A low speed stirrer may be used
for getting a uniform consistency. Apply this slurry by brush uniformly on
the cleaned steel surface.
- Apply
another coat of this slurry within 2 hours of applying the first coat. In
case of reinforcement steel, the second coat may be made of 1:1.25 instead
of 1:1.
- Allow
to air cure for a minimum of 48 hours.
