While designing a kids room, be
sure to take the energy levels of each element into consideration.
Wall coverings
Softer, shades of blue are
harmonious and calming. Stars and fire energy.
Paintings
Fabric wall hangings slow chi
energy and are not reflective. Choose positive images to suit your children’s
needs. Bright colours, particularly red, yellow and orange, are more yang and
therefore, stimulating. Soft colours, particularly blues and greens, are more
yin and soothing.
Toys
Wood is ideal for toys because
it is natural material as well as being strong and durable, yet warm and
pleasing to touch. Put toys away at night to calm chi energy.
Fire element
If children are, frightened or
wary of the dark, place a natural flame night light in a safe holder in the
room rather than add to electrical radiation. Fire energy is calming in an east
room. The fire chi of a starry purple holder also helps.
Things to avoid
- Open doors : Keep the bedroom door closed at night and draw the curtains. This will calm the flow of energy so that the children fall asleep easily.
- Bedheads Below Windows : Do not place bed heads under windows as the chi energy here is more active and may prevent a good night’s sleep.
- Heavy furniture : Children need space and bulky furniture can make the room feel obstructive and confining.
- Clutter : It is easy for children’s rooms to become littered with their toys and possessions, ultimately becoming confusing and frustrating. Encourage them to keep the room tidy and to get rid of outgrown items.
- Electrical equipment : To reduce un-necessary electrical radiation, do not place televisions, video machines and personal computers in children’s bedrooms.
